No Injuries Reported for Galesburg Structure Fire

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 109 S. Whitesboro Street at 6:09 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025. The response included all three stations and 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke coming from the eaves and flames coming from the back door of the story-and-a-half residential structure. Battalion Chief Jim Pendergast established command and the Brooks Street Station crew made entry with an attack hose line and extinguished the fire. The property was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

An emergency callback of off-duty fire personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage to the City. Preliminary damages are estimated at approximately $10,000. The fire was contained to a back stairwell with smoke damage throughout the home. Galesburg Fire Department Investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire.
