Pauline E. Morris, age 92, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 5:25 pm on Saturday January 25, 2025 at Marigold Nursing Home in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on November 23, 1932 in rural Warren County near Alexis, Illinois and is the daughter of George V. and Mildred F. Johnston Smith. Pauline was raised in Shanghai City and attended Alexis Schools. She attended and graduated from Kirkwood High School in the class of 1950. Pauline was married to Richard E. ” Saki ” Morris on November 5, 1950 in Kirkwood, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2013. Pauline has been a homemaker in her own home raising her children. She loved to play cards and pitch, and play the slots uptown and on the boat. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Stephenson of Monmouth, Illinois and son, Terry Morris also of Monmouth. There are two granddaughters, Krista Lenover and John, and Megan Smith and Jamie. Her grandson in law survives, Rick Williams. Pauline has ten great grandchildren, Brittany Miller, Justin Ricco, Christopher Scanlon and Rachel, Zach Williams, Nate Williams, Anthony Miller and Jenna, Rachel Williams, Maddisyn Cook, Kegan Smith, and Payton Smith. There are ten great great grandchildren also surviving her. Pauline’s sister also survives, Marge Simmons of Monmouth. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband Richard, daughter in law, Jill, son in law, Toby, granddaughter Tracey, and her brother Vernon.
A graveside service for the committal of her ashes is planned on Tuesday February 4, 2025 in Mt.Vernon Cemetery next to her husband in North Henderson. Memorial funds have been established for either the American Diabetes Association or the local Relay for Life, cancer fund.
