Suspect Arrested in Armed Robbery Case

On January 18, 2025 at approximately 12:11 PM, Burlington Police Officers responded to 2830 Mt. Pleasant St. (Hometown Cash Advance), for a report of Robbery. While responding, officers learned the suspect robbed the business at gunpoint and had left the business with an undisclosed amount of currency, riding an orange and black motorcycle. Upon arrival, officers received information of an orange and black motorcycle driving south on Hwy 61 at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle was seen turning north on a road in the 3400 Blk of Hwy 61. Officers located the motorcycle abandoned and evidence that the suspect had fled on foot. Officers were able to establish a perimeter around a wooded area near the motorcycle. Within the perimeter, at approximately 5:17 PM, Michael O’Malley Rose, age 31, of Burlington, was taken into custody without incident.

Michael Rose was charged with Robbery 1st Degree (Class B Felony), Teft 1st (Class C Felony), and Obstruction of Emergency Communication (Simple Misdemeanor) and is being held at the Des Moines County Jail with NO BOND.

The Burlington Police Department was assisted by the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa State Patrol Air Wing Unit.
