Titans Wrestling Finish 6th Overall at Pekin Invitational

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans wrestling team traveled to Pekin over the weekend to compete in the Pekin invitational. The titans were represented by eight wrestlers, Landon Peterson, Joslyn Brown, Gybahni Mendoza-Valverde, Moises Martinez, Jayden Montgomery, Keegan Smith, Jisanhi Mendoza-Valverde and Caleb Porter. At 120 pounds Landon Peterson went 3-1 on the day winning two by pinfall and one by tech fall with a score 18-0 and finishing fifth place overall. At 150 pounds Gybahni Mendoza-Valverde went 4-0 on the day winning all four by pinfall and placing first place overall. At 157 pounds Moises Martinez went 2-2 on the day winning one by pinfall and one by tech fall by score of 17-1 and finishing fourth place overall. At 175 pounds Keegan Smith went 2-2 on the day winning one by pinfall and one by major decision by score of 13-3 and finished fourth place overall. At 285 pounds Caleb Porter went 2-1 on the day getting both wins by pinfall and finishing second place overall.

There were 14 teams total with one A and two A being represented the Titans finished 6th place overall. The Titans will be back in action this coming Thursday as they travel to Erie for a triangular with Erie and Mendota.
