With the start of the new year, it is time again for the annual list of the top baby names for Knox County Illinois for 2024. The Knox County Clerk’s office tracks the names of babies born in the County and compile the top names for both girls and boys. This year there were 281 girls and 296 boys born in Knox County. The top name for the girls is a tie between Elizabeth and Willow with 4 each. The girl’s list is rounded out with Abigail, Amelia, Ivy, and Lillian with 3 each. The boys top name was a tie between Asher and Liam with 4 each. The list is rounded out with Benjamin, Jackson, Kayson, Levi, Lincoln, Mateo, Theodore, Walker, and Weston with 3 each.
“It is one of the fun parts of the job to compile the baby names for the year.” Said Knox County Clerk & Recorder Scott Erickson. “You never know what names will come out on top each year. In 2024 there were 242 different names for babies in both the girl’s and the boy’s category.” The Knox County Clerk and Recorder’s office handles many duties for the County including vital records (birth, marriage, and death), property records, manages elections, and maintains the official records for the Knox County Board.
