Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 19, 2025:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is freshman boys wrestler, Landon Peterson. Landon ran through the 120 pound weight class at the Kewanee Invitational with a perfect (3-0) record. His first place finish included two victories by way of pinfall. Landon helped the Titans to a 7th place finish in field of 19 schools.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior boys wrestler, Ryker Trego. Ryker went (3-2) in the 150 pound weight class at the Kewanee Invitational. He fought his way to a 5th place finish. All three of Ryker’s wins were by pinfall.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Harlee Hainds. Harley averaged an impressive 22.7 points and 7 rebounds a game last week. She poured in 25 points and had 3 blocked shots in a win over Stark County. Harlee was even better later in the week against Bureau Valley, recording a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Jackson Crock-Sibbing. Jackson was instrumental in two Western Big Six Conference wins last week. He averaged nearly 20 points wins over Geneseo and Alleman. Jackson nailed down the Alleman victory with six, 3-pointers.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Hailey Redding. Hailey helped her team to a pair of big wins in the Lincoln Trail Conference by averaging 15 points. In victories over United and Galva, she pulled down an average of 6.5 rounds per contest. Hailey was also tops on the team in 3-pointers made for the week with 4.
