February is American Hearth Month. While it is a time to raise awareness of heart diseases, it also acts as a reminder of those prevention methods. Advanced Rehab and Sports Medicine Clinic Manager in Monmouth, Doug Price, says that if you can consistently exercise, it can help to not only maintain heart health, but also your strength, flexibility, and stamina:

“You have to get that tissue warmed up. We have all gotten out of bed in the morning and everything is pretty tight, but once you get moving it gets a little bit better. We just don’t do that enough, so you lose a little bit of that elasticity of that muscle and the tendons, so if you can consistently exercise, this is the big part, and I am not saying that you know have to work out two hours a day, but you have to do something to keep a certain amount of strength up, you should do something to keep a certain amount of flexibility, and then a little bit of condition or stamina, you need to work on that with cardiovascular type stuff. If one of those three things are lacking, chances are something is going to break down at some point in time on you.”

The Advanced Rehab and Sports Medicine Clinic is located at 1201 East Broadway in Monmouth.
