Elizabeth Anne Liby, 79, of Monmouth, IL was called to home at 10:30 a.m. on February 7, 2025.

She was born June 29, 1945, at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL the daughter of Charles Kenneth and Helen Marie (Cole) Clifford. She was raised and educated in Knoxville, IL, graduating from Knoxville High School in 1963.  She was a Blue Bullet fan.

Anne married David Lee Liby in Abingdon, IL at the Methodist Church on August 16, 1964. He passed away on April 12, 2010. They had four daughters, Elleen (Albert) McLaughlin, Leesa (Rex) Farmer, Janet (Kirby) Holmberg and Linda (Alex) Spiker.

She worked for Formfit/Smoler, Kelley & Breen Cleaners, and Kmart. After Kmart’s closing, she attended Carl Sandburg College, graduating and receiving her LPN License in 1993. She worked at the Roseville Nursing Home, retiring in 2010.  She proudly wore her Nurse’s Cap.

Anne was a member of the Sugar Tree Grove Church, where she served as an Elder. She enjoyed gardening, collecting Abingdon Pottery, quilting, her church, and the Monmouth Evening Lions, where she was a Tail Twister. She also served as the Secretary for the Heritage Church Wednesday Afternoon Quilters Club, a member of the Warren County Community Fund and a board member at the Strom Center. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them.

Survivors include 4 daughters; 2 sons-in-law; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; her brother, James Clifford of Altona, IL; sisters, Alice Anhalt of Burlington, IA, and Barbara (Bob) McCommon of Knoxville; special sister-in-law, Kathy Clifford of Indianapolis, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, John Clifford; sons-in-law, Kirby Holmberg and Alex Spiker.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, February 17, 2025, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Sugar Tree Grove Church and sent to the funeral home.
