Hillis Ann Skov, 90, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Courtyard Estates, Monmouth.

Ann was born in Osceola, Polk County, NE on January 28, 1935, the daughter of Lester M and Florence (Hendrickson) McCormick.  She got her early education at District 15 in rural Nebraska, finishing high school in Central City, NE in 1952.  She attended Kearney State Teacher College in Kearney, NE where she was a member of the Sigma Theta Phi Sorority.

Ann married Charles E. Skov at the Methodist Church in Central City, NE on July 11, 1954, and he passed away on July 5, 2014.

She was “Secretary” at Garfield School for 23 years, beginning in 1976.  Her work there included duties of secretary, but more than that.  The opportunity to be with the many students for some years gave her a chance to provide a service of which she was most proud.

Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth and was a Charter Member of the Chapter LE, P.E.O. She was a proud member of Campus Club at Monmouth College for many years as well as the Highlander Bridge Club.

She liked to read, play bridge, travel and spend time with her family and friends.  Her family was her main interest, her children, Mitchell, Norman and Sarah being the most important of her life. She liked to cook, bake, help in the garden, prepare food for the winter and make jams and jellies.  She also enjoyed walking.

Ann would like to be remembered as having fought the good fight; finished the race; kept the faith. Also to be remembered as a good daughter, sister, spouse, mother, friend and a having been a “good servant”.

Survivors include her two sons; Mitchell M. Skov of Columbia, MO., Norman C. Skov of Monmouth; her daughter, Sarah (Chris) Hennemann of Pawnee, IL., three grandsons; Cale Hennemann of Pawnee, IL, Cade (Rachael Terry) Hennemann of Layfette IN, and Connor Hennemann of Pawnee; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her two brothers, Neal W. McCormick and Laird J. McCormick.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Burial will take place at Monmouth Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 Thursday morning at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth, the Warren County Library or Monmouth College and sent to the funeral home.
