Larry Dean Robinson, 88, of Roseville, Illinois, passed away at 5:33 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 12, 1936, in Avon, Illinois, the son of Bill and Kathryn (Merrill) Robinson. He was raised and educated in Roseville and graduated from Roseville High School in 1954.
Larry joined the United States Army and served as a sharpshooter from 1956-1958.
He married Joyce Turner on September 13, 1958, and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2017.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Lori (Ken) Allaman of West Burlington, IA; Judi (Kary) Myers of Camp Point, IL; Kathi (David) O’Brien of Payson, AZ and William (Cynthia) Robinson of Milan, IL. Eight grandchildren, Katie (Shane) Eberhardt, Zackary (Emily) Myers, Logan (Charlotte) Myers, Brendan (Natalie) O’Brien, Connor O’Brien, Sean O’Brien, Blaine Robinson and Amanda Robinson; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Lily and Cillian O’Brien, Carah, Leegan, Flynn and Annette Myers; Ezekiel and Obadiah Myers; sister, Donna Kirby; brothers-in-law, Tom (Shirley) Turner, Dave Turner, and Dick (Patricia) Turner; sister-in-law, Mary Turner, as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends that were more like family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and brothers-in-law Ron Turner and Don Kirby.
Larry spent most of his life farming in Warren County. He left the farm life in November of 1997, moved to “town” and started driving a semi for the next 20ish years. He drove for the local Amish community for many years.
If you had the pleasure of knowing Larry, you probably never got a straight answer out of him (unless he was mad!). He loved to laugh and was notorious for giving little kids chocolate ice cream cones. He truly could not contain the orneriness! At family dinners he was the first to the table to play cards and in his mind there were only two kinds of pie, hot and cold. And don’t forget there is only one “color” tractor that should ever be seen… RED!!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the funeral home. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in the Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family and left in the care of the funeral home.
