Mary R. Johnson, 90, of Monmouth, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

She was born October 21, 1934, in Henderson County, IL the daughter of James and Lucille (Ketchum) Damewood.  She was raised and educated in Warren County, graduating from Little York High School in 1953.

Mary married Jimmy R. Johnson at the Roseville Baptist Church in Roseville, IL on February 27, 1955, and he passed away on October 12, 2015.

Mary worked in local banks for 21 years. She worked at City National Bank in Dixon, IL for 12 years before working as a payroll clerk for Austin Quality Foods in Cary, N.C.

She was a member of the Coldbrook Christian Church. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cross-stitching, and other various crafts.

Mary is survived by her sister Doris Grabowski of Fisher, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and brothers, James Damewood and William Damewood.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Cremation has been accorded. Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home. Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth.  Memorials may be given to the Coldbrook Christian Church.
