Milton Lamond Jones, Jr., 57, passed away at 3:20 pm Sunday, February 23, 2025, at his home.

Milton was born March 13, 1967, in Galesburg, the son of Milton L. Jones, Sr. and Sheryn McCutcheon and his stepmother, Ann Jones. He attended Galesburg schools as a child but quickly entered the working field holding several jobs. Milton was extremely diverse, working for Hy Vee Grocery Store as a night stocker, he ran a forklift at Hanson Lumber Company. He worked in the dietary department for Heartland Healthcare Center and was a laborer for Mid-State Manufacturing Company. Milton’s most memorable and enjoyable job was working alongside Mr. James Harris collecting and hauling items for businesses and individuals. Milton had lived briefly in the Peoria area but always called Galesburg his home. He had a love for basketball both playing church league at the Carver Center and watching his Chicago Bulls. Milton was of the Baptist faith.

Left to cherish his memory is the mother of his children, Yvonne Haymon of Galesburg; his five daughters, Shayla Hawthorne of Mississippi, Shavonna Haymon and LaShona Haymon both of Galesburg, Tierra Jones of Mississippi and LaKeisha Mason of Florida; his five sons, Terrick Jones of Dubuque, Iowa, Terrance Jones of Mississippi, Preston Miller of Davenport, Iowa, Jonathon Miller of Burlington, Iowa and Desmond King; his three brothers, LaRon Jones and Johnny Sephus both of Texas, William (Lorraine) Sephus of Peoria; two sisters, Twyla McCutcheon of Peoria and Danielle Jones of Galesburg; four step sisters, Shron Pinkney of Cleveland, Ohio, Toya Shepherd of Galesburg, Veronica “Kay” Johnson of Decatur, Illinois, Tenisha (Greg) Brooks of Peoria and Shant’e Shepherd of Cleveland, Ohio; his stepmother, Ann Jones of Galesburg; thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Milton is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles Sephus and his sister, Julie Jones.

Milton’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of his life will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the W L Darrow Lodge 10, 838 W. Berrien St., Galesburg, Illinois 61401. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting his family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com.
