The United Board of Education has approved the replacement of the waste treatment system at the High School, reports Superintendent Tom Hawkins:

“Having a school right out in the middle of the country, we are not like a traditional school that is hooked up to a municipal sewer system. Our waste treatment is done through a sand filter, much like you would see at a rest area. We had a presentation from Bruner, Cooper, and Zuck. Kevin Cooper came out and has been doing a study of what it would cost to replace that, get us up to standards, meet the EPA guidelines, and our Board overwhelmingly supported that to do a complete replacement.”

Replacement of the waste treatment system at United High School is to take place this summer.
