United Way of Knox County is happy to announce that Jeannie Weber, executive director of United Way of Greater Warren County, will serve part-time as an interim executive director beginning immediately. Weber’s appointment was approved by the board of directors of both Knox County and Greater Warren County United Ways. Weber will provide leadership and administration to both United Way operations as Knox County continues its reorganization. This additional work will not interrupt any of the work currently being done in Warren, Henderson, and Mercer counties.

Weber has led United Way of Greater Warren County for the last ten years. During that period of time, the organization has grown exponentially – both in funds raised for local nonprofits and in literal expansion, which includes adding two counties to the service area, relocating and renovating a larger community space, and expanding meaningful services to the community and the 29 nonprofits United Way of Greater Warren County currently serves.

“Upon returning to the area, I made a commitment to the region, and this includes assisting our neighbors in Knox County. Our focus is raising funds for area nonprofits, most of whom already receive allocation dollars from both organizations,” Weber stated. She added that United Way’s mission focuses predominantly on fundraising but also encourages working together for the greater good. “This kind of thing is what United Way is all about. Our nonprofits continue to need more, and it is imperative that they are secured by a continuum of care in Knox County.”

Weber grew up in the area, spending 15 years in Knox County as well. She also lived in both Chicago and the Quad Cities, working as a marketing/pr/design consultant for local, national, and international companies all over the world. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Augustana College. She continued her education in graduate studies at St. Ambrose University in their master’s program for organizational leadership. Although most of her career has been spent consulting large corporations, she says that the decision to go into nonprofit work was the best career decision she ever made. “As it turns out,” Weber states, “applying my previous experience to this work has given me wonderful tools to provide regional growth and support those who need it the most.”
