The Warren County 911 Dispatch Center is now able to receive text messages, reports Communications Director Ken Helms:

“We are now able to receive 911 texts. We always suggest that somebody calls if they can instead of texting, it really improves the communication flow that is there, and we can also tell if something has happened to the caller or if it just dropped off. The options aren’t quite as robust when it comes to texting 911. If you were in an emergency situation, say hiding in a closet, we are able to receive that 911 text.”

Warren County 911 Emergency Services is also wrapping up the implementation of emergency medical dispatching, where they would be able to walk a caller through emergency medical procedures over the phone while paramedics are enroute.
