The Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency (WIRC-CAA) is thrilled to announce that Stacy Nimmo has been appointed as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer following a national search conducted by Jorgenson Pace, Inc. Ms. Nimmo will assume her new role on March 3, 2025, bringing with her a wealth of experience in rural revitalization and community development.
“Stacy’s proven track record of innovative leadership and dedication to rural communities aligns perfectly with our mission to empower individuals and strengthen the region we serve,” said Nancy Mowen, Board Chair of WIRC-CAA. “We are excited about the fresh perspective and expertise she brings to this role.”
Ms. Nimmo has over a decade of executive leadership experience, most recently serving as the Executive Director of IgniteMN where she dramatically increased the size of the organization as well as its service level across the region. Her efforts there resulted in securing more than $10 million in cumulative grant funding, including a prestigious $4 million U.S. EDA Build to Scale grant. Recognized as a regional leader, she has earned accolades such as the Twin Cities Business Magazine Blazer Award for community building and a nomination for the U.S. White House Rural Innovator Award.
Throughout her career, Ms. Nimmo has demonstrated exceptional skills in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and financial management. She successfully integrated 20 independent agencies into a cohesive association in Minnesota, boosting efficiency and service delivery to low-income populations by nearly 20%. Her commitment to fostering economic development and self-sufficiency reflects her deep passion for rural communities.
Ms. Nimmo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Bethel University and multiple professional certifications. She has also served on advisory councils and committees dedicated to broadband access, welcoming communities, and economic development in Southeast Minnesota. Additionally, she has been a speaker and panelist on the topic of rural community and economic development with the Federal Reserve Board and other regional and national organizations.
“I am honored to join WIRC-CAA and continue its vital work of supporting individuals and families in Western Illinois,” said Ms. Nimmo. “George and I are excited to relocate to the area, where his family has deep roots dating back to their settlement in Farmers Township, Fulton County, in 1850. Several members of his family served with great distinction during World War II and went on to serve their communities throughout their lives. I am also honored to follow in their footsteps and look forward to collaborating with the dedicated team, board members, and community partners to create a meaningful impact.” WIRC-CAA is confident that Ms. Nimmo’s leadership will guide the organization toward an even brighter future, enhancing its ability to address the unique challenges and opportunities within the region.
