Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 23, 2025:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week. This week the spotlight shines on senior girls basketball player, Tatianna Talivaa. Tatianna had a big hand in two regional tournament victories. She averaged 21 points and 3.5 steals. With the season on the line in the regional championship game, she scored 29 points, had 3 steals and hit some big free throws downs the stretch as the Titans brought home the title plaque.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys basketball player, Chance Stewart. Chance broke out for double digit points and great help off the bench in a road win at South Fulton. He scored 12 points and handed out 2 assists. Chance was solid from the free throw line for the week, as well, going 3-for-5.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Kyle Lafary. Kyle flirted with a double-double in a Lincoln Trail Conference game against Wethersfield. He drilled two of his three point attempts on his way to 15 points and hauled down nine rebounds in the game. Kyle led the team in scoring for the season and also handed out the most assists.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is freshman girls basketball player, Zaniyah Carter. Zaniyah’s consistency throughout the regional tournament proved to be a big help on the way to a Streak’s championship run. She averaged 12 points in the semifinal and championship contests. Zaniyah was in double figures in both, with 13 much needed points in the semifinals against Geneseo.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Kennedy Quinn. What a regional tournament week for Kennedy! In two wins last week, she averaged 26.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.5 steals and making nine, 3-pointers. Kennedy was especially good in the regional championship win over Elmwood, scoring 27 points with 7 rebounds and 6 steals.
