Sheriff Travis Duffy reports the recovery of a stolen side-by-side and an arrest for Theft of Property Exceeding $10,000.
In December of 2024, a 2017 John Deere Gator side-by-side was reported stolen from rural Colusa, Hancock County, Illinois. After a lengthy investigation deputies were able to obtain an arrest warrant for DALTON B SMITH (33) of Lomax, IL. Smith was soon after taken into custody on that warrant as well as unrelated drug charges and taken to the Hancock County Jail. The stolen side-by-side was recovered in Beaverdale, Iowa and returned to its rightful owner. Smith was released from jail after being seen by a judge.
The Dallas City Police Department, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and the Hancock County States Attorney assisted in this investigation.
All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
