Farmers are being reminded of important conservation deadlines coming up in April. District Conservationist with NRCS Cathy Froelich shares that the deadline for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, or EQIP, is April 25.

“We have had about 96 applications through the three county area. So don’t be surprised, landowners, if you had an application with us, you’re going to get a phone call to review that and find out information on the farms that you operate and own. So that’s in April,” says Froelich. “We have Conservation Compliance- this happens every year. Five percent of the tracks are identified by the FSA national office. So we’ll be sending out letters sometime in April, depending on when, when guys get crops planted in the ground, because we want to get those done before the crops emerge. We have around 20 in Warren, 22 in Knox, about nine in Henderson.”

For more information on those programs, contact your local NRCS and FSA office.
