Mary Jo LaFollette, 89, of Galesburg, died at 3:17 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, in the Knox County Nursing Home.

She was born January 15, 1936, in DeKalb, the daughter of Harold V. Muzzey and Lois Leone (Woods) Sipple.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Sue Elliott of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Robin LaFollette King, Rayn LaFollette, Rollin LaFollette, Christopher (Jaclyn) Elliott, and Nicholas (Corine) Elliott; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kyle Wesley LaFollette; brothers, Jerry, Bill, Dennie, and Kerry Muzzey; and sisters, Ginger Muzzey, Sarah F. Owens, and Madeline Welts.

Mary Jo had worked as an inspector at the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation for four years. She later worked for Dr. Caruso for 10 ½ years, before working in the dining room at Knox College for four years. She graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1954 and later attended Carl Sandburg College.

Mary Jo was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, her flower garden, and her dogs.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Deb Epley officiating. Cremation will be accorded after the funeral with burial later in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
