Norma Jeanne Palmer, age 78, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.  She was born January 12, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of John and Pauline Steward McGraw.  On January 14, 1968, she married Clair E. Palmer in Cairo, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on February 17, 2012.

Jeanne was employed in the laundry department of Great River Medical Center from January of 1975 until her retirement in October of 1999.  She enjoyed camping, crocheting, crossword puzzles, word searches, playing bingo, and attending yard sales.  Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Lori (John) Lewis of Denmark, IA, five grandchildren, Shawndra (James) Balmer, Shannon Watts, Ashley Bowen, Jennifer (Cameron) LeMaster, Tyler Lewis, and twenty great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, Tony Palmer, two sisters, Doris Hillburn and Bonnie Vaughn, and one brother, Donald McGraw.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Steve Palmer officiating.  Burial will follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.  In honor of Jeanne’s great niece, Caitlin Peterson, a  memorial fund has been established for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  To leave a condolence, please visit Jeanne’s  obituary at banksandbeals.com.
