Rodney W. McCann, 56, of Monmouth, IL passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Rod was born August 14, 1968 in Mendota, IL, the son of Jerry W. and Barbara R. (Budach) McCann. He was raised and educated in Earlville, IL.
Rod married Elizabeth M. “Beth” McMahon on February 15, 2000 in Ottawa, IL and they recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, making a milestone in their years of dedication and commitment to each other.
Rod worked side-by-side with his mom at Boxcar Pizza and spent time as a volunteer firefighter in Earlville. His passion for the open road led him to logging countless miles as a truck driver. He owned and operated Rod McCann Trucking in Monmouth for several years. One of his greatest joys was teaching his son to drive a semi and having the opportunity to truck alongside him, sharing the road and the experiences that came with it.
In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and fishing with his grandchildren. He loved everything Harley Davidson and John Deere tractors. He cherished attending his children and grandchildren’s events. Rod took pride in his title as Cheer Dad.
Surviving Rod is his wife, his children, Kaitlyn McCann of Monmouth, Dustin McCann of Galesburg, Amanda (Stephen) Dose of Streator, IL, Ashley (Jason) Urbanik-Reno of Galesburg, Alesia Urbanik and Scott Young of Henderson, IL, Amber (Marcus) Sandman of Abingdon, IL, Nicole (Derrick) Snyder of Mendota, IL; 20 grandchildren and two grand fur babies; one sister, Rachel (Hank) Johnson, nephew, Robert Johnson and niece, Hannah Johnson. Also surviving Rod is his devoted fur babies, Dyna “low rider”, Mocha, Sophie, Oakley, Chloe, and Zoie.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Rod was known for his outgoing personality and his ability to connect with everyone around him. His quick wit, carefree spirit, and warm presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He leaves behind many cherished friends and countless memories.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 29, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 415 S. East St. Earlville, IL. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be made to the Rodney McCann Memorial Fund. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
