Each quarter, the principals in the United School District present building reports at the Board of Education meeting. With the third quarter coming to an end, a lot of success is taking place within the buildings and beyond, shares Superintendent Tom Hawkins:

“At North Elementary, 97 percent of our kindergarten students scored in the green in our Star Testing, with 25 percent of our students scoring in the 90th percentile in reading. As early readers, that is just a phenomenal statistic for our kids and showing early learning progress there as far as reading goes. At West, our PTO have been raising money the last couple of years to update the playground there and then also with a generous donation from the Pattee Foundation, our PTO has been able to almost do a complete upgrade of the playground there for the students. Moving onto the United Intermediate School, our teachers have been working on something called Learning Walks. It is basically an opportunity to go visit each other and learn from them, see what they are doing, and have the potential in providing some peer feedback.”

At the Junior High level, Superintendent Hawkins reports the volleyball teams were Lincoln Trail Conference Champions and the 8th grade team is moving onto sectionals. Meanwhile, at the High School, the FFA students have been very active in competitions almost weekly.
