The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore baseball player, Kellen Boone. Kellen was as hot as his team was in the opening week of the season. In three wins last week, he led the team in batting average at .600, hits with six and doubles with three. Kellen knocked in four runs and showed his speed with three stolen bases.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Hayden Eisnnicher. Hayden tossed a well-earned pitching win in a season opening victory over Bushnell-Prairie City. He pitched five strong innings of one-hit baseball, giving up one earned run with two strikeouts. Hayden also helped himself out at the plate, going 1-for-2.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior girls soccer player, Eliana Juarez. Eliana had a big hand, or foot, in the Streak’s 3rd place finish at the East Peoria Invitational. In her team’s two wins in the tournament, she scored a hat trick and five total goals. Earlier in the week, Eliana had another hat trick against the Orion/Sherrard co-op for 8 total goals in four matches.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior softball player, Emma Gunther. Emma got off to a great start to the season at the plate.
