Mrs. Marian E. Witherbee, 100 years young, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Seminary Manor.

She was born October 12, 1924, in Galesburg, the daughter of Orville G. and Florence (Haynes) Way. She graduated from Gilson High School in 1943 and later attended Browns Business School. She married her husband, Jewel “Ned” Witherbee, Sr. in Denver, Colorado on December 5, 1944. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2004.

She survives by her son, Charles (Irene) Witherbee of Galesburg; her four grandchildren, Jay Witherbee, Eric Witherbee, Bryan (Shelby) Witherbee and Jennifer Witherbee; and her five great grandchildren, Peyton, Callie, Riley, Avery and Braeden. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ned, her son, Dr. Jewel “Ned” Witherbee, Jr.

Marian was raised in Delong and lived in Knoxville for over twenty years before moving to Galesburg, later moving to Lakeland, Florida for twenty years and back to Galesburg in 2004. She worked for a variety of establishments, including Steak n Shake, Circle T Truck Stop and Brown’s Specialty. Her and her husband owned and operated the Stock Yards Restaurant and later the Green Diamond Tavern.

Marian was a member of the Galesburg American Legion Auxiliary Post #285, member of the 8/40 and the Shalom Christian Fellowship 215. She took great pride in being a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Lakeland, Florida transferring her membership later to the Galesburg chapter. Marian was a Faith United Methodist Church.

Visitation is scheduled for 9:30-10:30 am Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services and Cremation Services. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Deacon Michael Crummer officiating. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
