Woodard and Curran has submitted an Engineering Services proposal to the Monmouth City Council to replace an underground sewer in need of repair, reports City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher:

“There is an underground sewer that runs from about the Strom Center, eastward across South Main Street, goes under The Bijou, the theater, and then ultimately goes over partly underneath the armory. That sewer is quite old and deteriorating, the fact that buildings have been built over it would indicate just how old that sewer is. We know that there is some structural integrity questions associated with that old sewer. It is a major project for us to try and either replace it or line it and strengthen it, clean it out, from within. This proposal from Woodard and Curran for engineering services is to not only do some preliminary engineering on the sewer itself, but also to prepare and submit an application to the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a loan/grant. The fee for those services is $45,000. We know that we have to do something here quickly.”

Monmouth City Council did approve and authorize the entrance into a professional services agreement with Woodard and Curran for the engineering services and to prepare and submit the loan and grant application to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
