To increase the number of students transferring to a four-year college or university, Sandburg is launching a ‘Career and Transfer Skilz Seminar’ opportunity for students, informs Associate Director of Advising and Transfer Coordination Rebecca Yarita:
“It is a lot of work to transfer. There is a lot of planning to do. There is a lot of processes to understand, like how the application process works, how the financial aid process works, how transferring your credits works, and how that fits into the next institutions’ academic plans. So, to help students go through this long process, we decided to set up a seminar, especially for those students. Any student who has joined us in the spring of 2025 or is joining us in the fall, brand new, for 2025, we have this course that is open to them as long as they are taking nine credits. It is a course that is going to help them with career path development and planning for their transfer. That will also include study skills, soft skills like communication, and how to pick a major. We are calling it the ‘Career and Transfer Skilz Seminar.’ The very cool thing about this class, there is no cost to the student.”
Sandburg’s ‘Career and Transfer Skilz Seminar’ will launch during the upcoming fall semester during the week of August 18th with two class sections available for students planning to transfer after obtaining their associate’s degree.
