Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 13, 2025:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior boys track and field athlete, Dame Thioubou. Dame put the “athlete” in track and field with his performance at the Lee Calhoun Meet in Macomb. He won the shot put event with a toss of just over 48 feet. Dame also placed 8th out of 44 throwers in the discus and placed 4th in the triple jump.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore softball player, Emma Lair. Emma played great in four games last week. She went 6-for-11 at the plate, knocking in six runs and smashing a double for the week. In a win over West Prairie, Emma went 4-for-5, scoring three runs.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls track and field athlete, Hailey Manes. Hailey had five, top-5 finishes in two meets last week. At a meet in Bushnell, she placed 1st in the long jump, 2nd in the 100 meter dash and 4th in the 200 meter. At an even larger meet in West Burlington, Hailey was 4th in the long jump and 5th in the 100 meter dash.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls track and field athlete, Grace Herchenroder. Grace scored three medals at the 35th annual Silver Streak Invitational. She was the meet champion in the 300 meter hurdle event and was a part of the winning 4×400 meter relay team. Grace was also 3rd in the high jump and 6th in the 100 meter hurdle race.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore softball player, Addy Onion. Addy had a hand in all three wins last week for the Tornadoes. At the plate, she was a team-leading 7-for-9 with two extra base hits and four rbis. Addy was even better in the pitching circle, tossing a no-hitter against BPC and striking out 15 batters in her 10 innings for the week.
