The removal of the fountain in Downtown Monmouth will begin soon to prepare the space for the installation of the new Maple City Centerpiece, as the project has reached its’ financial goal, states Mayor Rod Davies:

“Sarah Walters addressed Council and gave us an update on the Maple City Centerpiece Project. She reported out that they had all the funds necessary and had ordered that statue to replace the fountain in the middle of the square. We will probably begin the process of getting the fountain removed so that they can begin the process of putting that in. We will get the water and electricity unhooked from that and we will make a decision on whether there is somewhere else we can put it or if it becomes surplus property and we offer it for sale.”

Meanwhile, the construction project at Beck’s Oil Company is nearly complete and has an anticipated opening date of Monday, May 12th.
