National Nurses Week is underway, a time to show appreciation for America’s four-point-seven-million nurses. The week ends May 12th on the birthday of the late Florence Nightingale who was widely recognized as the founder of modern nursing. For two hundred years, the Italian-born nurse’s name has been synonymous with compassion and mercy. Nightingale was the daughter of British parents who named her Florence for the city of her birth.
