CASA is the Court Appointed Special Advocate program. Their mission is to speak up for and support the best interests of abused and neglected children in the court system. CASA, which is a nonprofit organization, is always looking for volunteers. Executive Director, Kelly Price, shares how you can get involved.
“You can reach out to us on social media or email or give us a call. We will talk you through what all is involved. You will fill out a short application, we do an interview with you to make sure it is the right fit for both of us, and then we get started on training classes. Right now, we are doing online classes, so it is self-paced, we call it guided learning. You work on it, complete your homework, and then talk about it with our trainer. We are also hosting an in-person call in Monmouth, if there are enough people, in May.”
CASA will be hosting a “Lunch N’ Learn” recruitment event May 27th at the Galesburg Public Library, as well as a “Dudes N’ Brews” recruitment event at the Vault in Galesburg in May, date to be determined. For more information on CASA visit their website at casaofwestcentralillinois.org.
