Story by Parker Cassidy

The United Red Storm softball squad holds an overall record of 4-25 with 2 games remaining in the regular season. The Red Storm dropped their most recent outing to Monmouth-Roseville on Monday night at South Park in Monmouth. United fell 5-2 to the Titans. Aubrey Bainter led the way for the Red Storm going 2 for 3 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Ava Westart scored the two Red Storm runs. Ella Bernhardt took the loss in the pitching circle but had a nice outing, picking up six strikeouts while only walking one batter in her six innings of work. First year head coach of the Red Storm, Mike Maguire believes his team has the right mentality to possibly make some noise headed into regionals.

The Red Storm will end the regular season traveling to ROWVA/Williamsfield tonight (on Tuesday) and then host the Cougars on Thursday. United will begin post season play on Monday, hosting Bushnell-Prarie City in the regional quarterfinals. The Red Storm played Bushnell-Prairie City early in the season taking down the Spartans 15-12 on March 26th. Heading into the final week of their regular season, BPC was winless at (0-23).
