United Softball Gets Postseason Win over BPC

The United Red Storm softball team got the best of the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans in the IHSA Softball Regional Quarterfinal, winning 14-4 in six innings. The Spartans opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, with Abby Nelson hitting a double that drove in one run. Aubrey Bainter responded in the bottom half with a double of her own, tying the game at 1-1 after the first inning. United took control in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 6-1 lead. After that, the Red Storm never looked back, ultimately winning the game 14-4 in just six innings. Ava Westart, Cameron Postin and Emma Lair led the way at the plate, each collecting three hits and scoring three runs. On the mound, Ella Bernhardt earned the win, pitching six innings while allowing four runs on six hits and striking out eight.
The Red Storm will advance to the Regional Semifinal on Wednesday at Abingdon-Avon, where they’ll face the West Central Heat.
