Western Illinois Regional Council Community Action Agency is a non-profit partnering with individuals and communities to improve lives and neighborhoods through their offered social service programs, crisis counseling and advocacy, and community development. CEO Stacy Nimmo explains a new pilot program that has launched:
“One of the things that has recently launched and is just in early-stage pilot is something called ‘Grounds to Work.’ We see a lot of people, as close to 500, that come through our doors for the food pantry and for various services on a monthly basis. We know that many of the families that are coming in, many of them have just temporary needs, temporary crises and a lot of times their work is tied into that and their employment. So, our ‘Grounds to Work,’ we now have a computer lab, and we are launching a resume building services and workshop and coaching. Along with that, one of the things that I would love to see is some additional programming like digital skills and digital literacy that would help them to be able to qualify and be hired at a good paying job.”
The Western Illinois Regional Council Community Action Agency serves Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, Warren, Fulton, and Knox Counties.
