George E. “Jack” McIntire, age 92, of Stronghurst, IL, passed away at 11:18 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2025 at his home. He was born April 29, 1933 in Carman, IL, the son of Clifford and Lucille Kemp McIntire. On June 23, 1956, he married Danuta M. Lipiec at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church near Raritan, IL. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2020.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany during the Korean War. He farmed earlier in life, then was employed for 30 years at Champion Spark Plug Company in Burlington. He was a member of UAW local 1237. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with small engines, working on cars. He especially enjoyed gardening, and later in life could be seen daily, riding his bicycle to and from his garden in Stronghurst.
Survivors include one daughter, Aimee Wolfe, and her fiancé Rory Coppage, of West Burlington, IA, two sons, Wayne McIntire of Joliet, IL, and Paul McIntire of Stronghurst, four grandchildren, Cody and Elijah Wolfe, Mariah McVey, and Matthew McIntire, and five great grandchildren, Archer and Jack McIntire, and Tinley, Aubrey, and Cooper Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his wife, and two brothers, Bobby and Jerry McIntire.
A graveside service, with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, near Raritan, with Deacon Joe McCleary officiating. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Hospice Compassus or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
