Carolyn Lee Cunningham, 84, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 7:45 AM on Monday July 14, 2025 at Carlson Court in Galesburg, IL She was born July 14, 1941 in Macomb, IL, the daughter of Harry and Mildred (Brewer) Cunningham. Carolyn attended St. Mary’s Academy with her sister Marilyn in Nauvoo, IL where she completed the 8th grade. She resided in group homes in Red Oak, IA, Madison, WI, Aurora, IL, Monmouth, IL prior to settling in Galesburg, IL at St. Mary’s Living Center (2006) and the Carlson house (2013).

She was preceded in death by mother, father and sister Marilyn Boulware.

Surviving Carolyn are her niece Sue Pato of Antioch, CA, great-nephew Ricky Pato, Antioch, CA, nephew Mark (Dede) Boulware Bloomington, IL, great-niece Nataya Boulware Daytona Beach, FL in addition to many cousins from the Cunningham and Brewer families. Special people in Carolyn’s life and care included Nancy, Ann, Wendy and Sharon of the Carlson House.

She had a natural gift of music playing the piano and accordion all by ear. Her playing days continued into 2024 playing for all to hear. Carolyn played in a local band composed of former St. Mary’s Living Center individuals and blessed many people when hearing this special group play. Athletically, she participated in the Special Olympics Summer Games.

Graveside services are scheduled for Friday August 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roseville Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Illinois and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements.
