Mr. Curtis Spinks, Sr., 72, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

Curtis was born June 17, 1953, in Galesburg the son of A.C and Larine I. (Blalock) Spinks. He married his longtime love, Wanda Faye Brannon on February 23, 2007. She preceded him in death on November 24, 2020.

Curtis is survived by his children, Curtis Spinks, Jr. of Galesburg, Craig Spinks of Atlanta, Georgia, Rupert Spinks of Iowa and Paul Thomas Brannon of Mililani, Hawaii and Mia Michelle Brannon of Galesburg; his brother, Heston Spinks of Peoria, Illinois; his sisters, Esterline Duncan of Peoria, Lou Annette Mayberry of Bloomington, Illinois, Cinthia R. Morrison of St. Paul, Minnesota, Tuesday R. Spinks of Galesburg, Doreen Cherry of Florissant, Missouri and Theresa Spinks of St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren, a special friend, Lorraine Washington, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.. Curtis was welcomed into heaven by his wife, Wanda, his parents, his four brothers, Rev. Calvin O. Spinks, Corina J. Spinks, Robert Spinks, and Lester Spinks, his sisters, Emma Sargent and Mattie J. Mixon, and nephew, TJ Pendleton.

Curtis graduated from Galesburg High School in 1971.  He worked for Butler Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for many years.  Later, he was a conductor for the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad until his retirement.  Curtis enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing.  Most of all he loved going to the casinos with his family. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Chapel.  Rev. Tyson Parks, III will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galesburg Youth Fishing Derby.  Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com
