Gary D. Robertson, 79, of Monmouth, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.

He was born on February 18, 1946, in Monmouth, IL.  Gary was the beloved son of Archie and Nan (Jessen) Robertson. He was raised in Monmouth, where attended Harding School and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1964, setting the foundation for a life of dedication, service, and community.

A proud veteran, Gary served in the United States Air Force as a Medic during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. His time stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines marked a significant chapter in his life, one that shaped his commitment to service and instilled a deep sense of pride in his country.

On June 7, 1969, Gary married Karen Ask in Houston, MN, and the two shared a loving and devoted marriage for over five decades. Together, they raised a family and built a life filled with love and shared memories. Karen survives him.

Gary was a hardworking and dedicated individual, with a career that spanned several years and industries. He worked for Gale Products in Galesburg in the warehouse before transitioning to Super America in Monmouth, where he served as Assistant Manager for 10 years. Gary finished his career at Lance, Inc. in Burlington, IA, where he worked in the warehouse until his well-earned retirement.

Outside of work, Gary was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Bears. His love for sports extended to his personal life, as he was an enthusiastic coach for youth baseball and an avid participant in local slow-pitch softball leagues, where he played on several area teams. His competitive spirit was matched only by his love for teaching and mentoring others, especially young athletes.

Gary was a devoted member of Grace Bible Church, where he served with distinction as both Elder and Deacon. His faith and commitment to his church family were cornerstones of his life.

Surviving Gary is his wife, Karen Robertson of Monmouth, IL; three daughters, Kathy Robertson, Jennifer Robertson, both of Monmouth, IL, and Michelle Robertson of Oakdale, MN; and one grandson, Dylan Robertson of Monmouth, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert and Richard Robertson.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment with Military Honors will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.  Memorials can be made to Grace Bible Church of Monmouth or Hospice Compassus and can be sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
