Mrs. Margaret L. “Marge” Patterson, 87, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.

She was born on September 26, 1937, in Galesburg to Kenneth D. and Dorothy L. (Elliott) Moody.  She married Ronald G. Patterson on June 16, 1957, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on June 11, 2025, after almost 68 years of marriage.

Surviving is her son, Tim (and Sally) Patterson of Galesburg, a brother, Ronald Moody of Altona, Illinois, three sisters-in-law, Joanne (and Jack) Sloan of Matherville, Illinois, Marilyn Jarvis of Oquawka, Illinois, and Chris Hogan of Galesburg, two grandsons that were very special to her, Sam Patterson and Matt Patterson of Galesburg, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gene (and his wife, Jane Anne) Moody, a sister, Marilyn (and her husband, Cecil “Bud”) Davis, two brothers-in-law, Dick (and his wife, Mary) Patterson and Don Patterson, two sisters-in-law, Karen Moody and Shirlee (and her husband Don) Damewood, two nephews, Sgt. First Class Rod Davis and Cecil “Buddy” Davis and two nieces, Paula Patterson and Sherryl Beard.

Marge graduated from ROVA High School in 1955.  She worked for Illinois Power Company for a short time.  She then became an office manager for the phone companies, Intra State, Centel, and Sprint Telephone Company for 36 years.  She retired in 1995.  She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg.  She was on the Church Board of Trustees, the Christian Women Fellowship Board, and was a Diaconate.  She was also a member of the Lake Bracken Country Club for 60 years where she was a member of the Ladies Golf League and the Ladies Bridge group.  She enjoyed golfing and snowmobiling and loved spending time with her family and friends.  Marge’s family would like to thank Knox County Nursing Home and Hospice Compassus for the compassionate care they gave her. 

Per Marge’s request, cremation will be accorded.  A Celebration of Life visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the chapel.  Rev. Martha Jean Fitch will officiate.  Cremation burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Hospice Compassus.  Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com
