The West Central School District Threat Assessment Plan has been approved for the 2025-26. This plan helps the school identify and address potential safety risks to students and staff, allowing the district to respond early to warning signs and work to prevent violence before it occurs. School districts are required to update this plan annually, Superintendent Stacy Day says.

“We did a week long safety training at the ROE earlier in June, and one of the days was specifically about behavior threat assessments. We talked through all of the pieces. We had all the pieces on ours already, really our changes were on the paperwork front, being more detailed in what we’re tracking on our paperwork so that we have that information.”

Day says the first step is the screening process, where they determine if the threat is credible. If it is deemed credible, the full threat assessment team is brought in, including administrators, mental health professionals, and local law enforcement.
