Students will soon make their way to the campus of Monmouth College, which means the annual New Student Walkout is right around the corner. Wackerle Center for Career, Leadership, and Fellowships Director Marnie Steach shares the details of the long-standing tradition:
“Each year, our annual New Student Walkout is a big piece of how we welcome students not just to the campus and Monmouth College, but to the Monmouth community. It is a tradition that has been going on since the early 1900s. The Walkout will be Monday, August 18th. We will leave form campus at 3 pm. We will have over 300 student this year who are lead with a police escort and our bagpipers to kick things off. We will travel down Broadway up to the Public Square, go around the Square, South on Main Street, cross over at Alfano’s to Maple City, then back to the Public Square, and back down Broadway to campus.”
