The Monmouth City Council has approved the drafting of an ordinance to form an Arbor Committee that would oversee tree related initiatives throughout the city, informs Communications Director Ken Helms:
“That stems from some conversations that we had with local residents that were expressing some interest in more greenery around Monmouth, more trees in public spaces. After we were discussing it, we also thought this might be a good way to build an inventory and get some grants so we can determine and make sure the right tree goes in the right place. We asked Council to allow Marcum Spears, our Attorney, to draft up an ordinance to create this new committee and we should have that at the next Council Meeting.”
The next Monmouth City Council Meeting will be held Monday, August 18th at 6 pm inside City Hall.
