Ms. Carol L. Gibson, 84, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

She was born August 18, 1941, in Springfield, Missouri to Lee and Dorothy L. (Vaughn) Folger.  She married Roger O. Gibson in 1959.

Surviving are two sons, Steven H. (and Dawn) Gibson of Galesburg and Jeffrey R. (and Andrea) Gibson of Cambridge, Illinois, a sister, Renee Reynolds of Galesburg, seven grandchildren, Jake (and Kelly) Gibson, Brian (and Christine) Kastl, Brittany (and April) Gibson, Elizabeth Gibson, Amber Kastl, Jessica (and Zachary) Peterson, and Ashlee (and Forrest) Allen and six great grandchildren, Brence Gibson, Brooklyn Gibson, Wyatt Peterson, Bentley Allen, Lena Peterson, and Madelyn Kastl.  She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Art Fish, her father, Lee Folger, and a son, David Gibson.

Carol graduated from Williamsfield High School, Williamsfield, Illinois in 1959.  She continued her education and graduated from Carl Sandburg College Cosmetology in 1993.  She worked for Maytag Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 15 years.  She then worked for Eagles Grocery Store for 14 years as a cashier.  She was also a hairdresser and cake decorator.  She was of the Methodist faith.  In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, landscaping her yard, and reading books.  She loved spending time cooking and baking for her family. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the chapel.  Rev. Deb Epley will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the family or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com
