If you’ve enjoyed watching the terrific video of corn husking competitions in our Agriculture Gallery, you won’t want to miss our next Speaker Series event!

Dick Humes, the president of the Illinois Corn Husking Association, will tell us about these competitions, which were a big deal in the 1920s and ’30s. A good husker could pick over 100 bushels of corn a day. Today, a combine can harvest 2,000 bushels an hour!

This event takes place on Thursday, September 11, at 7 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
