Henderson County 4-H members Isaac, Ethan, and Audrey Mohr delivered standout performances at the State 4-H Archery Competition, held on September 20, 2025, at the Pekin Archer Range in Pekin, Illinois, as part of the 2025 Illinois 4-H Shooting Sports State Competitions.
The competitions, which concluded this September, draw youth from across the state to showcase their precision, skill, and sportsmanship. Held annually in late August and throughout September, this year’s event featured a record-breaking 14,474 shots scored across all disciplines—including 4,074 arrows in archery, 1,900 air rifle pellets, 1,000 smallbore rifle bullets, and 7,600 shotgun shells—highlighting the growing enthusiasm and talent within Illinois 4-H Shooting Sports.
The Mohr siblings once again demonstrated their hard work and talent at the competition, with Issac earning second place in the senior compound bow category, Ethan finishing fifth in the same division, and Audrey claiming first place in the junior division.
Isaac and Ethan have a strong history of top placements in previous state competitions, with Isaac previously securing first and Ethan second. Isaac also achieved a rare “Robin Hood” shot in an earlier competition—an extraordinary feat where one arrow splits another already lodged in the target, a nod to the legendary archer himself.
The Mohr children train under Mr. Jeff Hudgens, McDonough County 4-H archery instructor, who praised their dedication:
“The success of the Mohr children reflects their dedication, consistency, and persistence. The effort and time they invest during practice will undoubtedly lead to continued achievement.”
Their accomplishments exemplify the 4-H motto, “Making the Best Better,” and reflect the strength of youth development programs that foster discipline, focus, and lifelong skills.
