Effective July 1st of 2026, Warren County Public Transportation will expand to serve Henderson County following an intergovernmental agreement. Additionally, the Illinois Department of Transportation is looking to incorporate regional transportation hubs, which Warren County is currently applying for a grant to have one placed in Monmouth, reports Warren County Board Buildings and Grounds Chair Sean Cavanaugh:

“We have a wonderful opportunity, IDOT wants regional transportation hubs and Morgan, down at Transportation, is working on a grant that would allow for Monmouth, Illinois to be one of those regional transportation hubs. So, going beyond the Henderson County, Mercer County, and of course Warren County. The building would be built next to the jail site and since we already own the property, we are ahead of the game as far as competing for the grant. If we are able to secure the grant, IDOT will pay 100 percent of the construction of the new transportation facility, which would be out in Industrial Park Road.”

Warren County Public Transportation currently serves Warren and Mercer Counties, with the option to schedule trips to Galesburg and the Quad Cities.
