As people get older, joint pain becomes a common challenge that can make everyday movement harder. For many, total joint replacement becomes the best option to stay active and maintain quality of life. Advanced Rehab and Sports Medicine’s Doug Price shares the most common joint replacements they see.

“The most common that we see are hips and knees, I guarantee we all know multiple people that have had their hips and knees replaced. Shoulders, they’re really doing a lot of neat things with shoulders. There is two different of replacements you can have in the shoulders, you can have just a regular shoulder replacement, but then there is what’s called a reverse total shoulder that is actually becoming more common.”

Price also adds that the other two most common procedures are hip and ankle joint replacements. He notes that recovery time for a total joint replacement is around six months, although most patients begin feeling much better between four and six months.
