Charles “Chuck” Edward Batson, 90, of Abingdon, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck was born on August 19, 1935, to Charles and Dora Batson. He married his beloved wife, Linda Ann Schisler, on April 29, 1955, at the Abingdon Christian Church. On April 29, 2025, they celebrated 70 years of marriage — a true testament to their lifelong love, devotion, and partnership.

Chuck worked for over 30 years as a dedicated drill press worker at the Gale Products/Outboard Marine Corporation. During that time, he also proudly owned and operated the Victory Tavern for 15 years, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships that grew within his community.

He was an outdoorsman at heart who cherished time spent deer hunting with his sons and fishing with his grandchildren along the river. He loved taking short trips with his kids and especially treasured holiday gatherings with his family. His laughter, stories, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Ann Batson; his children, Rodney (Suzanne) Batson of Abingdon, Gary (Lorrie) Batson of Oquawka, and caring daughter Diana (Brian) Knox of Gilson; his sisters, Shirley Blodgett and Mary Jo Russo, both of Abingdon; and his sister-in-law, Louise Batson. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jared Batson, Kyle Batson, Kylie Batson, Krista Hogsett, Dustin Miner, and Stephanie Ryan, and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Kenneth, Art, Harry, Robert, and Ronald Batson, Betty Gordon, and Patsy Lambert.

Chuck leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and love for family that will be remembered and cherished always.

Cremation will be accorded. No visitation or service is planned. His remains will be entombed at Abingdon Cemetery in a private family ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed My Lambs. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Abingdon is honored to serve the family. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
