With the holidays, comes more online shopping and increased opportunities for porch pirates to take those packages. Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer encourages everyone to take those deliveries inside as soon as you can:
“There are lots of packages on porches. You have to be careful. People are coming along behind the delivery drivers, and they are taking packages. It is another one of those opportunity moments that they feel they have. If you know your delivery has been made and you can get home to pick your package up quickly, do that. Get it inside. That way it is not sitting out for someone to come along and take. If you are at home, grab that package right when it gets delivered.”
Additionally, Chief Switzer reminds everyone to keep homes, garages, and vehicles locked and not to leave valuable items in your vehicles.
