At the upcoming West Central Board of Education meeting, two major items on the agenda include discussion on the tentative tax levy and the summative designations. Superintendent Stacey Day shares more on the designations that were released at the end of October:
“Our high school and middle school are commendable again this year. Our elementary stayed at targeted, which is what they were they were the previous year. What that means is they had a sub-group of students that didn’t match scores with everybody else in the state. That sub-group is the same that we had with our middle school a couple of years ago in our students with disabilities, so our IEP’s and our 504’s. We have really been working on putting some extra support in for them. You meet kids where they are and then that state assessment is set at a different level. We anticipate changes. The state is actually working on accountability changes for next school year. One nice thing about the way we do accountability is it is not just a single test score that makes our decision. There are nine different factors in it right now, so that does help.”
The West Central Board of Education meeting will begin at 6 pm in the West Central Elementary Cafeteria on Tuesday, November 18th.
